Welcome
The Lake Havasu City Wastewater System Expansion (WWSE) Program is in its 7th Program Year of an 11-Year Program to convert the majority of properties within the City limits from septic to a conventional gravity sewer system. The current projected number of conversions is 22,048 with over half of the conversions completed to date. 173 miles of sanitary sewer mainline has been installed with 2,755 manholes through Program Year 6 and 171 miles of sewer service lines have been installed.
The WWSE Program is progressing on schedule and on budget. AMEC will be conducting a Wastewater Master Plan Update in Program Year 7 to assess and modify the plan for the remainder of the WWSE Program and beyond. AMEC will seek to optimize capital expenditure based on population and wastewater flow projections. City Council presentations and public meetings are scheduled to inform the City Council and public of progress made to date and proposed recommendations, as well as gain input from the City Council and public.
This website was developed to provide information to Lake Havasu City property owners and residents on the WWSE Program, provide information on design and construction projects within the program and answer general property owner questions about the system. Please take a moment to navigate through the site and learn more about the WWSE Program and its participants.
Acclerated Schedule
In an effort to optimize a competitive contractor bidding environment and create Program efficiencies, Lake Havasu City and AMEC are planning to accelerate the WWSE Program schedule by up to two (2) years. The impact of an accelerated schedule will lower the Program capital costs and ultimately minimize the sewer rates. The WWSE Program map below is in the progress of being updated per the accelerated Program schedule. Please note you may receive WWSE Program publications 1 - 2 years prior to what is shown below.
Background
In response to rising concerns over the quality of the groundwater in and around Lake Havasu, a comprehensive Wastewater Master Plan was performed by the City. The Master Plan was completed in 1998 and recommended the elimination of septic systems and the construction of a community sewer system. A bond election was held in 2001 to fund the WWSE Program and the election passed by a margin of 3 to 1! The bond funds the design and construction of the collection, treatment, and reclamation components required for the City to have a successful and effective wastewater system.
